Daytime care, play and company while you're out.
A short visit so we can get to know each other.
| Need | Overnight Boarding | Day Care | Trial Stay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Dogs who settle comfortably in a home overnight and have clear feeding, sleep, and walk routines. | Dogs who enjoy gentle daytime company, supervised play, walks, and quiet rest between activities. | First-time PawStay dogs, anxious dogs, puppies, or dogs whose owners want a calm introduction before boarding. |
| Length | 1 night or more | Daytime care | 30-60 minutes |
| Timing guidance | Night-based care. Choose the first day your dog arrives and the day you plan to pick them up. | Usually same-day care. If you need several day-care dates, include the details in date flexibility. | Usually a short same-day visit. Share any timing constraints so PawStay can review the fit. |
| Not ideal for | Dogs needing kennel-style separation, overnight medical monitoring, or intensive behaviour support. | Dogs who cannot settle during the day, need one-to-one supervision at all times, or are highly reactive indoors. | Urgent long stays where there is no time to learn whether the dog is comfortable in the home. |
| Example request | A weekend stay while the owner travels, after PawStay has reviewed routine and safety details. | A workday or errands day when the owner wants calm home-based care rather than a busy group setting. | A short meet and greet before requesting a longer overnight stay. |

A trial stay or meet and greet is often the calmest first step before a longer overnight booking. It helps your dog experience the home, meet the care team, and show us how they settle before we confirm a bigger stay.
Request a trial stayPawStay is home-based and intentionally limited. Dogs needing constant medical supervision, kennel-style separation, or intensive behaviour support may be safer with a specialist provider. Honest details help us guide you clearly.
Read fit policiesPawStay works best for dogs who can settle into a calm home routine. Every request is reviewed by a person before it becomes a confirmed booking.
Not sure? Send a request anyway. We will review honestly and may suggest a trial stay, meet and greet, or a more suitable care option.
Every care option is request-based. We check the dog profile, requested dates, and home routine before confirming.
PawStay reviews Auckland suburbs and addresses manually. Location helps us assess timing, travel, and whether the stay fits our home routine.
For first-time dogs, anxious dogs, or longer stays, PawStay may recommend a short trial stay or meet and greet before confirming boarding.
For confirmed stays, PawStay aims to send practical photo or message updates so owners know how their dog is settling.
Owners must provide an emergency contact. If urgent vet care is needed, PawStay will try to contact the owner first and seek appropriate veterinary support.
Submitting a request does not confirm a booking and no payment is taken at this stage.
